Prix ​​de Rome 2011 presents ten individual portraits of talented artists, with special attention to the four finalists.

Nicoline Timmer, nominated for the Prize for Young Art Criticism 2010 (Prijs voor de Jonge Kunstkritiek), writes an introductory essay and follows the intense selection process closely. Prix de Rome commissioned the essay by a young art critic to underline the importance of encouraging a new generation of art critics and here by continued the cooperation with the Prize for Young Art Criticism.

The publication is a collaboration of NAI Uitgevers / Publishers and the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten.
